P.O.I.S. (formerly known as the Post Office Insurance Society) is a division of Family Assurance Friendly Society, one of the UK's largest tax-exempt friendly societies, that trades under the name Family Investments. The Family group has over 1 million policies in force and over £1.4 billion of funds under management. Family is the UK's leading provider of Child Trust Funds. As part of a "mutual" organisation, we do not have any shareholders and Members share directly in the performance of the society.


P.O.I.S. has provided its customers with good value savings and investments and protection products for over 125 years. Although we mainly operate within the workplace, and many of our customers are employees of Royal Mail, BT and the civil service, we also welcome individuals not employed in these sectors. Customers who are employed in these organisations may be able to pay their premiums by weekly or monthly deduction from payroll and may have access to our network of Area Managers and Local Secretaries - contact us for details. Any customers may pay regular premiums by direct debit.


As well as managing the products listed on this website, P.O.I.S. also manages the P.O.I.S. with profits fund, the Freeway personal pension plans and the former Holborn and Metropolitan Counties Society policies.
