On 24th May 2010 the Government announced that they would be ending the Child Trust Fund scheme. To find out how this could affect you, click here*.

Children born between 1 September 2002 and 31 December 2010 and who are eligible for Child Benefit will receive a free Child Trust Fund voucher from the Government. This voucher must be invested in a special savings and investment account - a Child Trust Fund account - until the child is aged 18.

Any child born before 1st September 2002 will not be eligible for a Child Trust Fund account but you may still want to save for them in a Children's Tax Exempt Plan - click here for details.

  • Initally funded by free voucher from the government

  • Parents, family and friends may save up to a further £1200 each year

  • There are a variety of different types of CTF accounts and a number of different providers

  • Any money invested in a CTF account can only be accessed by your child, and only when they reach the age of 18

  • Top up your child’s account by between £10 and £19 per month by regular Direct Debit and we’ll send you £15 in Boots vouchers. Top up by £20 or more by regular monthly Direct Debit and we’ll send you £25 in Boots vouchers.

The P.O.I.S. Child Trust Fund account is provided by Family investments. As it invest in stocks and shares the value can fall as well as rise, and your child may get back less than has been invested.
