How to work out the current value of your plan

When you invest with us your money buys units or shares in a fund and the units in each fund have a daily value which can be used to work out the current overall value of your plan.

To work out the value of your plan simply take the number of units your plan currently holds, and multiply this number by the current Unit Price for that plan.

For example:

If you hold 3,000 units in a Savings and Investment Plan and the current unit price for the POIS Savings Fund it invests in is 176.50 pence, then your plan would be worth 529,500 pence, or £5,295. Just divide the pence figure by 100 to see what it is in pounds.

If you are not sure how many units your plan currently holds, please contact us on 0800 622 417 to find out.

Please Note:  The value of your plan can vary on a daily basis and will depend on the Unit Price at the time it is cashed in. A surrender charge will be deducted in line with your policy terms and conditions if the plan is cashed in before its 10th anniversary.

The value of the plan may fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you have paid in.

Please see your plan Key Information Document and Important Information for further information.

Where is the money invested?

The fund may invest in the following asset classes:

Equities – the fund can invest in shares from both the UK and overseas, including the US, Europe, the Far East and emerging markets. Investing in shares has historically been an effective way of growing capital over the longer term and protecting against inflation.

Fixed Interest – also known as bonds. These are loans by the UK Government (called gilts) or a company (termed corporate bonds). Bonds pay a fixed rate of interest throughout their term or can pay a return linked to inflation. Bonds issued by the Government and larger, credit worthy companies are generally thought to be less risky than investment in shares.

Convertible Bonds – some corporate debt will be issued via convertible bonds. These yield interest payments similar to corporate bonds. These can also be converted into a pre-determined number of common stock/equity shares, at certain times throughout the lifespan of the bond.

Investments in the POIS Flexible Growth Fund will vary, for example as new opportunities arise or if economic conditions or investment markets change.

How could the POIS Flexible Growth Fund perform?

Investments in the POIS Flexible Growth Fund will vary, for example as new opportunities arise or if economic conditions or investment markets change. The fund may purchase shares directly or through collectives. A collective investment enables a number of investors to combine their assets and have these professionally managed by an independent manager. By doing this, investors can reduce risk by spreading their investments more widely than is possible by investing in the assets directly.

If you would like further information on how our unit-linked funds are managed, download a copy of ‘How we manage our unit-linked funds’.

The contributions you make will be used to purchase units in the fund. The value of holdings within the fund can fall as well as rise, and you could get back less than you have paid into the plan. As the fund holds overseas assets, the Sterling value of these assets may rise and fall as a result of exchange rate fluctuations.

Useful definitions

Explanations of some of the words used in the fund information.

AMC and TER The AMC is deducted from the value of the fund on a daily basis. The TER includes additional expenses which can vary, but are estimated to be approximately 0.1% per annum.
Cash Some funds keep part of your money in cash to add flexibility and aid stability. This can include investments in banks and building societies. A proportion of the fund will be held in these liquid investments as investments are bought and sold.
Equities The fund invests in equities by buying units in the AXA World Funds Global Factors Sustainable Equity Fund. This fund invests in equities in global developed markets, including US, Europe and Asia with an objective of long-term capital appreciation.
Fixed Interest – Corporate Bonds and Gilts Fixed Income Bonds – Fixed income bonds are fixed term loans issued by companies and governments looking to raise money. The bond issuer will pay investors either a fixed rate of interest or a variable rate of interest linked to an inflation indicator, such as retail price index (RPI). As fixed income bonds are traded on the stock market, their value may rise and fall in a similar way to the price of equities. The fund invests in both UK Gilts and Convertible Bonds. A UK Gilt is a fixed income investment issued by the UK Government. A Convertible Bond is a type of fixed income investment issued by a company, with regular interest payments, but with the potential to be converted into a predetermined number of equity shares at specific times during the life of the bond.
Fund size The total value of all investments held in the fund.
